| So in the purchase of my new to me FJ it has a smittybilt xrc8 winch. I have little knowledge about these other than they go in ant out. It seems the clutch is stuck on engaged and can't be moved over to free spool.
Does anyone have any experience with these? | |

| ill tell you what the issue is...as i had an XRC8...the spring and detent ball in the lever are not chrome plated which leads to quickly rusting...the best way to keep from having to continually spray some wd40 in and possibly stranding you when you absolutely need it is to take the lever apart and pack some heavy grease in that part...and rotating the lever on a regular basis. the winch has plenty of power but if you get the chance to replace it i would...never had anything but problems out of my smittybilt... | |

| Wd better than spray grease.anything that will displace water will work. You will need to spray it on a pretty regular basis. And quite often... | |
